YOU ASK:

I like my present veterinarian. Can I continue going to him even if I buy pet insurance?

WE ANSWER:

If you choose to claim on a reimbursement basis, you may continue staying with any veterinarian, as long as he is licensed to operate as such.

However, if you prefer not to pay the bulk of the medical expenses out of pocket and wait to have it reimbursed by the insurance company, you will have to go to one of the accredited veterinarians that the insurance company has.

Thus, we recommend that you choose an insurance provider that has a wide network of accredited veterinarians. If you're lucky, your favorite veterinarian may be on that list and you can still go to him even on a direct payment basis.
